Why does quality matter to Monterey County?
Monterey County is home to an early learning community that believes all children should have access to a high quality early education. In order to help achieve this goal, Quality Matters Monterey County was developed an early learning program that works to provide children and families access to high quality care and early learning experiences.

Why Quality Matters
The first five years of a child’s life are extremely important.1
Think about it: the things you learned and experienced at a young age shape who you are, your relationships, and the way you engage and interact with the world around you today. In fact, the brain of a three year old is two and a half times more active than an adult brain.2
That’s why high quality early education is so important! Early learning experiences help build a foundation of learning, and give children the tools and skills they need to be successful in school, their careers, and beyond.
